The maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and industrial distribution industry is massive and continues to grow at a steady pace. Despite this positive outlook, individual MRO distributors aren’t short on their own challenges when it comes to retaining and growing their market share.
There are several factors hindering MRO companies from retaining the share they have and claiming more. Namely:
• Complexity: Their large customer counts and behemoth SKU counts render it impossible to give reps market-aligned pricing guidance and sales intelligence
• Competition: MRO is ripe for poaching by Amazon, and as a result, traditional distributors continue to see market share slipping away to the online giant
• Skills: A massive generational shift in the workforce is resulting in a skills gap that’s proving particularly problematic to fill
In this playbook for MRO and industrial products distributors, we will discuss how growth is hindered in this dynamic industry and then provide reimagin

Achieving and maintaining a high level of information security requires information security professionals with robust skills as well as organisational, technical and operational capabilities. The gap between intent and ability to be secure is evident in our sample of UK large enterprises. Deficient companies will only close that gap when they acquire the necessary capabilities. Some of these capabilities can be purchased as information security tools or application solutions, but it is more prudent for an organisation to consider acquiring these capabilities through a service arrangement with a dedicated security services partner.

• Explore the challenges ITDMs face communicating with the board about organisational priorities and skills disconnect
• Reveal what ITDMs can do to help close the looming 'security strategy gap' that is widening day by day, and could be detrimental to the organisation's cloud security

Ask the average business user what they know about Business Intelligence (BI)
and data analytics, and most will claim to understand the concepts. Few, however,
will profess to know how analytics works or to have the skills needed to put it
into practice. Despite being knowledgeable about their industry and experienced
in running their organizations, the majority of business users lack expertise in
analytics and visualization techniques—but that doesn’t stop them from wanting
to have a go.
This situation has led to ease of use and accessibility becoming the main focus
for recent updates from all the leading BI vendors—but making tools easier and
more widely accessible is only part of the answer.
A better approach is to work both sides of the gap. To make tools that can
empower business users to discover and unlock value in their data—and that
extend capabilities for experts, so they can share the analytics workload, improve
efficiency, and focus on higher level work.

The cloud was supposed to open the floodgates of innovation. The reality, however, is that even in the cloud era, IT spends most of its time on routine maintenance. Discover how IT can spend less time operating and more time innovating by confronting the skills gap.
Enterprises understand that greater efficiency, improved time-to value, and new opportunities can be gained by using cloud platforms; automating and accelerating their IT delivery; and putting technology to work in new ways to digitally transform their business. The difficult question is how to create an organization that is able to deliver these innovations. Skilled resources do exist, but they command high salaries and are in short supply. In fact, 70% of respondents to a recent Computing survey stated that their companies face a shortage of cloud skills. While bringing in experienced staff who can guide and lead new initiatives is often a necessity, it’s vital to concurrently train your existing staff and adopt solutions that narrow the gap between the realities of the present and the hopes for the future.

Winning isn’t only important for top executives but for everyone — from the boardroom to the mailroom — who wants to get ahead and help his or her organization. The two are intertwined. For an individual, winning is personal. In the business world, winning is multidimensional. Even the most talented businessperson with the best intentions will get nowhere unless he or she knows how to win in today’s complex business world. Business is a game, and winning that game is a total blast!
